Grimshaw Architects

Grimshaw Architects are a global architecture practice with a track-record for designing public transport projects. But we also design places for people, and our approach is embedded in understanding the journeys and experiences of the people who will use and enjoy our buildings. We have been appointed by Caerphilly County Borough Council and are working with them and Transport for Wales on the Concept Design of the new Caerphilly Interchange.

Transport for Wales (TfW)

Transport for Wales was set up by the Welsh Government in 2016 to oversee public transport in Wales. In addition to a new Interchange at Caerphilly, the line will also benefit from new trains, increased service frequency, and electrification as part of the Core Valley Lines upgrade. The Welsh Transport Strategy sets a target of 45% of all journeys in Wales being made by Public Transport or Active Travel. We call this change “modal-shift” and the delivery of Caerphilly Interchange presents a unique opportunity and demonstrator project to support this transformation.
