Transport for Wales was set up by the Welsh Government in 2016 to oversee public transport in Wales. In addition to a new Interchange at Caerphilly, the line will also benefit from new trains, increased service frequency, and electrification as part of the Core Valley Lines upgrade.
The Welsh Transport Strategy sets a target of 45% of all journeys in Wales being made by Public Transport or Active Travel. We call this change “modal-shift” and the delivery of Caerphilly Interchange presents a unique opportunity and demonstrator project to support this transformation.
